Security & Privacy FAQ
Last updated: July 6, 2026
Your photos are personal, and we treat them that way. This page answers the questions people ask most often. For the full detail, see our Privacy Policy and our Photo, AI & Printing Notice.
Are my photos private?
Yes. Your photos are stored in private, encrypted cloud storage that isn’t publicly accessible — there’s no public link or gallery. Only you, signed into your account, can view or download them.
Do you use my photos to train AI?
No. We don’t use your photos, memories, or book projects to train AI models — and neither do the AI providers we work with. Under the business (paid) terms we use with them, the images we send are not used to train their models.
Which AI do you use, and what does it actually see?
We use AI to help organize your photos, choose the best shots, group them into chapters, suggest titles, and design each page. For that, we send small, thumbnail-sized copies of your photos to trusted providers:
- Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI — to organize and select photos and write titles.
- Google’s Vision and Gemini services — to recognize landmarks for trip books. Decorative page artwork is generated from text prompts only — no photos are sent to Gemini for decoration.
Two things worth knowing:
- Your full-resolution originals are never sent to any AI. They stay on our own infrastructure and are used only to print your book.
- We don’t send names, contacts, or account details alongside the images.
Do humans look at my photos?
No. The AI providers process the thumbnails automatically; under the terms we use, their staff don’t review them, except rare cases required for security or by law. On our side, we don’t browse your photos — we’d only ever access an account with your permission, to help with a support request you’ve raised.
Do you use face recognition?
Not the kind that identifies people. To help shape a book, Enchanta detects where faces appear in your photos and groups the ones that look like the same person within that one book — so you can mark who the book is about, and we can make sure they’re featured well.
This runs entirely on our own infrastructure, using small open-source models (YuNet and SFace, from the OpenCV project) — no AI provider is involved. What we store is minimal: where each face sits in a photo, and a short numerical signature used for the grouping, kept with the book in our own database. Your faces and these signatures are never sent to any AI vendor or face-recognition service, people are never matched across different books, and no names or identities are attached — the grouping only knows that the same person appears in several photos. Delete the book or the photos, and this data is deleted with them.
Where is my data stored, and for how long?
On established cloud infrastructure (Cloudflare), encrypted at rest. We keep your photos and projects while your project is active, and for a limited period afterward so you can reprint or keep editing — see the Privacy Policy for the specifics. You can delete anything sooner.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. Delete a project from the app to remove its photos, or email privacy@enchanta.ai to delete your account and data. We keep only the minimum records the law requires, such as order and tax records.
What about Google Photos?
If you connect Google Photos, we only access the photos you choose, and only to help you build your book. We don’t sell that data, use it for advertising, or build a general photo gallery from it. See the Google API Limited Use section of our Privacy Policy for our full commitment.
Is my payment information safe?
Yes. Payments are handled by a dedicated payment processor. We don’t store your full card number.
Who can use Enchanta right now?
Enchanta is in a private beta, so sign-in is invite-only. Only people we’ve invited can create an account.
